Shuhari, Imagine, believe, become! It is a way of thinking about how we learn, about how we approach life and our personal development. We use the Japanese martial art concept of Shuhari. Shuhari Roughly translates to “first learn, then detach, and finally transcend”.
Our kids classes provide a safe, positive environment where they will have fun, get fit and be active. As well as practical self defence, they learn bully busting strategies, stranger danger, goal setting. They will develop personal discipline and improve their self-confidence. All while having fun and making new friends.
Our kids classes are taught throughout the year within the school terms. Specifically for primary school age between 5-14 years. No yearly contracts, just pay by the term. Classes are on a Tuesday and Thursday after school. You can try two classes before you decide to commit to the term.
We teach Zen Doi Kai
to children from ages 5 and adult. BJC Muay Thai
BJC Muay Thaistudents start at an older, with a minimum age of 10. They learn the basics of Karate through learning katas, partner drills and games. They develop individual skills of focus, concentration, co-ordination, balance, and fitness. Partner drills and group work helps the child develop the proper control, distancing, and speed necessary for self-defense as well as teaching and improving teamwork skills.
A grading held at the end of each term for Yellow and Orange belts. Blue belts and above attend the Western Australia state grading held every 3 months. Each child advances when he or she is ready, and we make sure that they are fully prepared through practice and games. Each student is provided constructive feedback so they understand how they are progressing towards their next grading test. This builds their sense of accomplishment and provides a practical framework for achieving goals in other areas of their life. The goals are very achievable and outlines at the beginning of the term
Class sizes are kept small to allow sufficient time for learning and instructor interaction. All our instructors have a Working With Children's Check and First Aid certified. Parents are welcome to stay and watch.
The original mixed martial arts. Incorporating techniques from fighting systems across the world into to its own system for last 40 years, Zen Doi Kai provides an exciting, interesting, proven martial art system that will be with you for the rest of your life. We start with basic drills to develop breathing, coordination, agility and strength. We use Kata, a sequence of techniques, and combinations to develope rhythm, timing and angular movements. Sparring further develops your reflexes and cardiovascular endurance as well as giving you opportunity to apply your skills against an opponent.
BJC Muay Thaiis one of the fastest and easiest sports to learn in the world. A basic class in Muay Thai consists of a Warm-up, Skipping, Stretching, Pushups and Sit-ups, Technique Work, Shadow Boxing, Partner Drills and Sparring. A typical class provides the student with a great overall workout. Although we focus on self-defence, students are also encouraged to take on their training for the purpose of competition.
All forms of martial arts have something to offer the student. We supplement your training with guest instructors, seminars and courses from within ZDK and from other systems.
